National Citizen Service!
The National Citizen Service (NCS) is an exciting new government initiative for young people that are leaving school this year!
We are looking for young people from all backgrounds who want to take on new challenges, learn new skills, meet new people and make a real difference to their local communities.
You will spend your summer in a group of 15 taking part in four core sections plus the opportunity to get involved in further projects and graduate from the programme in October!
By taking part in National Citizen Service you will have the chance to do things you never imagined, meet lifelong friends and make lots of memories that will last a lifetime!
The Adventure Week: Week 1
Through 6 days of intense outdoor activities at a residential centre in Scotland, you will take part in activities that will challenge you to overcome their fears, build confidence and self awareness and get to know your team mates!
Love Bolton Week: Week 2
In the second week you will spend 5 days at Bolton University Halls of residence taking part in local activities and workshops, learning independent living skills and learning skills that will help you their community projects.
Action Week: Week 3
Action Week is all about making a difference to your local community. This week you will use your experiences and new skills you have learned to make their community around Bolton a better place. They will work in your teams to plan and design a community action project with a local charity to make a positive difference in your community!
Once you have designed your project you will spend 30 hours during the rest of the summer actually doing your project and volunteering in your local community!
Key Information:
The project is for all young people in Year 11 this year!
There are three start dates available: 1st, 8th, 15th July – we are also running an NCS programme in October half ter,
The cost is £30 and includes everything— (there are bursaries available if needed)
Every group is supported by a Group Guide and two volunteers
